Getaway weekend? BBQ?
Fishing with the grandkids? What does it all mean?
Labor Day is celebrated to recognize and honor workers in the United States - the workforce that built our nation.
The industrial revolution was built through the sweat and toil of hardworking men, women, and children. We now enjoy and take for granted better working conditions and wages because of their dedication and sacrifices. The first labor day parade was held in New York City in 1882, with the majority of individual states recognizing it before it became an official federal holiday in 1894.
Today, Labor Day has become the unoffical end of summer.
So, praise your coworkers, crack open a cold one, attend a parade, close the pool, and as Granny Waters used to say; "Put away your white clothes."
