This activated carbon is made from select grades of bituminous coal through a process known as reagglomeration to produce a high activity, durable, granular product capable of withstanding the abrasion associated with repeated backwash, hydraulic transport, and reactivation for reuse. Activation is carefully controlled to produce a significant volume of both low and high energy pores for effective adsorption of a broad range of high and low molecular weight organic contaminants.
This product is formulated to comply with all the applicable provisions of the AWWA Standard for Granular Activated Carbon (B604) and Food Chemicals Codex. It may also be certified to the requirements of ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for use in municipal water treatment facilities. |

Warning For safety and handling purposes,
we recommend appropriate protective measures when entering a wet vessel containing granular activated carbon,
because wet activated carbon depletes oxygen from air and therefore, dangerously low levels of oxygen may be
encountered. In such a case, the oxygen level inside the vessel shall be determined before entering and
appropriate protective equipment should be worn when entering, or leave the vessel open until the oxygen
level in the vessel is normal. |
